The ECB today announced that its Board has been expanded in size from twelve to fourteen members – and will for the first time include two women Directors.

The announcement follows a decision taken at the ECB’s recent AGM to appoint two additional members to the Board – one representing the women’s game and the second as an additional independent representative.

Mo Marley heralded a new era for women’s football after watching Natasha Dowie strike an extra-time winner to secure Everton the 2010 FA Women’s Cup.

Dowie and a Faye White own goal had twice given the Toffees the lead in an enthralling cup final.

Kim Little’s penalty and Julie Fleeting scored the equalisers for the Gunners, but it was Dowie who had the last laugh in what could be a shift in power for English women’s football.

Bristol Academy builds Britain's first women's stadium

Today's Guardian reported the great news that the UK is to have its first purpose-built women's football stadium. The new stadium will be the home of Bristol Academy when the Football Association's Super League kicks off next March.

Yes, you’ve got it: the start of the Virgin London Marathon.

On Sunday, 25^th April, at 9.45am in South East London, around 36,000 runners will be nervously contemplating the next few hours. Questions they may be asking: did I do enough training? Have I got time to go to the toilet again? Will I be overtaken by a rhino?

Number of female Level One coaches on the increase

In the next few weeks female coaching will receive a massive boost when The FA qualifies its 20,000th female Level One coach.

Level One courses are administered up and down the country with some County FAs even holding female-only courses which has helped to increase female participation in the game.

In total 189,000 coaches now hold the Level One Certificate in Coaching Football, of which 19,805 are female.

British guard Johannah Leedham received the ultimate university graduation present on Thursday after being selected by the Connecticut Sun in the third round (27th pick) of the 2010 WNBA Draft.

The Ellesmere Port native is finishing her senior year at New Hampshire's Franklin Pierce University and has amassed a number of records, not only for her school but for the whole of the NCAA.
