Women’s sports charity picks up World Cup winnings

Following the excitement of the FIFA 2011 Women’s World Cup, the Women’s Sport and Fitness Foundation (WSFF) today received a £6,000 cheque from bookmakers William Hill after securing the winnings from the tournament in Germany. It may not have resulted in the possible £73,000 jackpot landing on the charity’s desk if England had won the tournament, but the money will still be put to excellent use in inspiring more women to play sport, including activity to help increase participation.
http://wsff.org.uk/content/women%E2%80%99s-sports-charity-picks-world-cup-winnings-0#commentsLatest newsThu, 04 Aug 2011 15:50:53 +0000editor980 at http://wsff.org.ukTraditional Favourites and Exciting New Developments Ashore at Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week

Olympic countdown begins – one year to go

27 July 2011 marks an important day in the world of sport with just one year to go until the opening ceremony of the London Olympic Games. Celebrations are happening across the country today to highlight and mark the countdown.

Currently, over 80% of women do too little exercise to benefit their health and young women leave school half as active as young men.
http://wsff.org.uk/content/olympic-countdown-begins-%E2%80%93-one-year-go#commentsLatest newsWed, 27 Jul 2011 16:49:02 +0000editor977 at http://wsff.org.ukOne Year to Go

The days are disappearing to 2012 but will numbers re-appear for women in sport?

And so we have reached the ‘one year to go’ hurdle for London 2012, a day I’ve been seriously looking forward to because now the real countdown begins; we’re finally talking in days not years, and before we know it Seb Coe will be making his speech at the opening ceremony, the games will be declared open and the British athletes will be on their way to building up a massive pot of gold medals (well that’s the hope).
http://wsff.org.uk/content/one-year-go#commentsBlogWed, 27 Jul 2011 00:00:00 +0000Jennad975 at http://wsff.org.uk
